SoKo update

Although I have been on the lookout for SoKo related news, I didn’t find much the last past weeks.

In Belgium, “I Kill Her” is slowly dropping from the charts, this week at 19. In The Netherlands, despite good airplay, the song didn’t chart at all.

There is also good news though; SoKo is touring Europe in the next couple of months. Dates will be added soon.

SoKo Conquers Germany!

We received word that Germany’s RBB radio station “Radio Eins” added SoKo’s “I’ll Kill Her” to their playlist. According to what we heard it is being played around 5 times a day! (thanks to Cille and Patrick for sending this in)

26-10: Cunami and Schaffi tipped us off about WDR’s station “1 Live” playing SoKo as well.

Seems like Germany is next to be affected by the SoKo-virus! Wunderbar :)

SoKo #3 in Belgian Ultratop Chart!

For the first time since “I’ll Kill Her” hit the internet, SoKo achieved official chart success! She is the top entry in the Belgian Ultratop list, charting at #11. Can you believe it? Number eleven!

Update 4-2: “I’ll Kill Her” is making an exceptional chart run, resulting in a number 4 position in it’s second week! Is the number one spot in sight? Remember, there is still no official/physical single out!

Update 14-2: The song moved from 4th to 3rd place in it’s third week in the charts!

Update 15-3: After some weeks at number 4 and 6, SoKo is back at number 3!

Soko Hot in Australia

Thanks to the voters, SoKo landed a #9 spot in the yearly Hottest 100 countdown, a chart by Australian DJ triple j. She beat household names like Kaiser Chiefs, M.I.A. and Kanye West. You can check out the full chart here!

The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music poll, based on the votes of Australian youth radio station Triple J listeners, in order to determine their favourite song of the year. Voting is conducted by SMS and the internet and begins on the new year for the previous year’s songs. The 100 most popular songs are then counted down on Australia Day weekend - usually Australia Day itself, January 26.

SoKo on 3FM

It seems that the word is spreading; as we speak SoKo’s “I’ll Kill Her” plays on 3FM, one of the biggest national radio stations over here in The Netherlands. Rob Stenders of “Stenders Eetvermaak” is the man!

Update 05-2: 3FM added the song to their playlist this week, resulting in spins throughout the whole day.

SoKo @ Paradiso, Amsterdam

Just wanted to share my live experience with you guys. Last night I saw SoKo at Paradiso in Amsterdam. It was, in one word, a perfect performance. SoKo was funny, she played her songs very well, it was just superb.

Some of the highlights included “the Dandy Cowboys”, “My Wet Dream;, “I will never love you more” en last but certainly not least “My Ex-Boyfriend”. As I said, perfect!

If somebody made some more clear pictures, please let me know if I can put ‘m up here! Would be very much appreciated!

SoKo in Belgium

After Australia and Danmark it’s Belgium’s turn to fall in love with SoKo! Radio station Studio Brussel has added SoKo’s song “I’ll Kill Her” to their playlist! It was even in 6th place on their “Hotlist” a couple of days ago!

I Will Never Love You More Update

Yes, boys and girls, it seems like “I Will Never Love You More” is doing very well in the UK. Maybe some radio people were present at one of SoKo’s recent gigs in London, but the song somehow got picked up.

The only thing I was able to find out is already a bit dated. I noticed that BBC presenter Tom Robinsons put the song on the playlist December 16, and that it was a “Record of the Day” 4 days earlier.

If any UK people know anything about this, please share it with the other fans here! Same goes for anyone with something worth blogging :) Thanks!

SoKo’s upcomming album

Don’t get too excited because yes, there seems to be a full length SoKo album comming, but no, it will not be released very soon. The French Music Export Office in London reports on their website: “After her EP “Not Sokute” - including “I’ll Kill Her” - , Soko is planning to release her first album for the autumn 2008.”

So, patience is a virtue and there is nothing for us all to do but wait. But at least there’s something comming!
